
Meet the Instructors:
Chris Rich
Training Shotokan since the age of 6, sensei Rich has been studying the art for over 20 years.
He currently holds the rank of Nidan, or second degree black belt, in Shotokan Karate-Do.
Sensei Rich has also studied Kudokan Judo under the well known, Professor Ernie Cates.
Sensei Rich currently holds a first degree black belt in Judo. Aside from that, he has also
studied Shorin-Ryu Karate-Do, Shito-Ryu Karate-Do, and Neko-Ryu Goshin Jitsu.
Sensei Rich has competed in numerous competitions. Most notably the 2000 World Games in
Sydney, Australia where he competed with Team America against teams from all over the
world. In the end, he brought home 2 golds and a silver. He also placed 3rd in the 1999
Sport Jujitsu Nationals, and 3rd in the 1999 State Judo Championships.
Sensei Rich has worked with Law Enforcement personnel, taught self-defense classes, and
has taught Shotokan for over 10 years.
Trey Staton
Sensei Staton has been training in Shotokan Karate for over 17 years and currently holds the
rank of Shodan, or first degree black belt. He has taught for well over 10 years and during the
mid-1990's ran the "Center for Shotokan". He has worked with Law Enforcement personnel
and has taught numerous self-defense classes. He currently works for the Polk County School
system where he is a respected and valued member of the staff.
